Bombada FC were forced to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw against BST Galaxy in their opening fixture of the Gambia Football Federation First Division League, played on Tuesday at the Boxba Mini Stadium.

The home side started on the front foot and looked the sharper team in the early exchanges. Their positive approach paid dividends in the 7th minute when Abdoulie Camara calmly slotted home from close range to hand Bombada an early advantage.

BST Galaxy regrouped after the break and returned with renewed intensity. Their pressure was rewarded shortly after the restart as Sheriff Bah found the back of the net five minutes into the second half, bringing his side back on level terms.

The remainder of the contest was keenly contested, with both teams searching for a late winner. Despite several promising moments, neither side managed to break the deadlock, and the points were shared at the final whistle.

In other First Division results, Fortune FC began their campaign on a winning note with a 2-1 triumph over Steve Biko at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Hawks FC also made a positive start to the season, edging past Samger 1-0 in a closely fought encounter at the OSFF Grounds in Yundum.
