The 2025/26 GFF First Division title race remains on a knife-edge after leaders Medina United FC and second-placed Fortune FC both secured crucial victories on Matchday 29.

Medina United strengthened their grip at the top of the table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Gambian Dutch Lions FC, moving to 51 points and maintaining a one-point advantage over Fortune FC with one game remaining.

Adama Kanteh handed the league leaders the breakthrough in the 26th minute, but Gambian Dutch Lions responded through midfield maestro Cherno Jallow, whose strike was his seventh goal of the season.

Paul Colley, however, netted the winner to secure all three points and boost Medina’s hopes of winning the title in their maiden campaign in the top flight.

Fortune FC kept the pressure firmly on the leaders with a narrow 1-0 victory over defending champions Real de Banjul FC. Muhammed Jallow’s 14th-minute strike proved decisive as Fortune moved to 50 points, just one behind Medina.

The encounter was marred by late drama as Real de Banjul finished the match with nine men after two players were sent off in the 89th and 90+4th minutes. Tempers continued to flare when goalscorer Muhammed Jallow also received his marching orders in stoppage time (90+8).

Third-placed Gambia Ports Authority FC secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Team Rhino FC to cement their place in the top three.
