The Gambia Immigration Department has intercepted 35 would-be migrants in separate operations across the North Bank Region on Wednesday (22 April).

According to officials, an intelligence-led operation by the Amdalai Immigration Border Post resulted in the interception of 21 migrants in Amdalai.

All those apprehended were Guinean nationals, comprising 14 females and seven males, including 11 minors.

In a separate operation later the same day, the North Bank Region Border Patrol Unit intercepted an additional 14 migrants in Essau Tenda.

The group included seven Malians, four Gambians and three Senegalese, among them one minor.

The interceptions highlight the Gambia Immigration Department’s ongoing efforts to curb irregular migration while promoting safe, orderly and regular migration pathways.
