Gambia Ports Authority Football Club have appointed Tapha Manneh as their new head coach, with the club expecting him to strengthen team performance and help develop players for higher levels of the game.

Manneh’s appointment was formalised during a signing ceremony on Monday, September 21, 2026, attended by the club’s management.

GPA FC president Arthur Ashcroft said the new technical leadership would be expected to focus on developing and transforming players, while creating opportunities for them to progress in their football careers.

He also highlighted the club’s investment in the team, stressing the importance of turning that support into improved performances and quality player development.

Manneh thanked the club’s management for giving him the opportunity and said institutional backing would be important in achieving the team’s objectives.

He highlighted logistics, player welfare, motivation and medical care, alongside other forms of support, as key areas needed to ensure the effective running of the team.

The newly appointed coach also pledged to work with the players and technical team to pursue the club’s ambitions.

GPA FC said the appointment marked a new phase for the club, reaffirming its commitment to player development, discipline, improved performance and the continued growth of the team.

The club added that it would continue supporting young footballers and investing in the development of talent as it seeks to strengthen its future.

Manneh now takes charge of the technical team with the club looking to translate its investment and development plans into progress on the pitch.
