Three officers at a Gunjur beach Immigration office have been injured after they were attacked by unidentified men in the early hours of Friday.

The officers were attacked with machetes according to sources closed to the investigation. 

Footage shared on social media showed some of the officers with wounds to the faces and blood soaked uniforms.

Immigration spokesman Mamanding S Dibba confirmed the attack but said they are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, Gambiana contacted the police spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie for comment but he could not be reached.

The attack comes as police launched a joint security patrol to combat crime as concerns grow over the fragile state of security in the country.
