Iran came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over The Gambia in an international friendly match played in Antalya, Turkey on Friday evening.

The Scorpions made a bright start and took the lead in the 41st minute through captain Omar Colley, who tapped home from close range after a brilliant run and low cross from Ebrima Colley.

Johnathan McKinstry’s side headed into the break with a 1-0 advantage, but Iran responded strongly after the restart as Aria Yousefi restored parity in the 47th minute.

Veteran defender Ramin Rezaeian then completed the turnaround in the 59th minute before star striker Mehdi Taremi added a third goal in the 68th minute to seal victory for the Asian giants.

The encounter also saw Karamba Gassama and Elvin Mendy make their senior debuts for The Gambia after the duo were introduced in the second half following their maiden national team call-ups.
