The Attorney General’s Chambers and Ministry of Justice has confirmed receipt of the Coroner’s Inquest Report into the death of Omar Badjie, who died following an encounter with law enforcement officers in Mandinari in September 2025.

In a statement, the Ministry said the report was transmitted by the Office of the Honourable Chief Justice and is now under review for appropriate action.

As part of the process, the Ministry has formally requested the Inspector General of Police to submit the full case file to enable a comprehensive legal assessment.

Authorities acknowledged the significant public concern surrounding the case, noting that the Coroner’s recommendations—including those relating to the possible prosecution of officers implicated—will be carefully examined.

The Ministry stated that where evidence supports it, legal action will be pursued without hesitation.

Members of the public have been urged to remain calm and allow due process to unfold, with officials reaffirming their commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights and dignity of all Gambians.
