The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs has warned members of the public against unauthorised development and encroachment within the Sanyang Deep-Sea Port area.

In a public notice, the ministry said it had received reports of cases involving encroachment and unauthorised developments within the area designated for the port project.

The ministry has consequently urged individuals, businesses and developers to refrain from undertaking any form of development, construction, occupation or other activities within the area without first obtaining the required approval from the relevant authorities.

It warned that developments or occupations carried out without the necessary approvals and authorisations will be subject to the applicable laws and regulations.

The ministry said the warning is intended to protect the designated port area and ensure that development activities are carried out in an orderly manner and in line with national planning requirements.

It further announced that the Department of Physical Planning and Housing will continue to monitor development activities within the area as part of efforts to prevent further encroachment and unauthorised construction.

The department is expected to strengthen monitoring and take the necessary steps against activities that violate planning and development regulations.

The Lands Ministry has also reminded members of the public that any development, construction or occupation within the Sanyang Deep-Sea Port area requires prior consent and approval from the relevant authorities.

It specifically urged the public to seek the necessary authorisation before commencing any project in the affected area, warning against proceeding with development on the assumption that approval can be obtained later.

The ministry said cooperation from landowners, developers and the wider public is essential to ensuring the orderly implementation of development plans around the port.

It called on everyone operating or planning activities within the area to comply with the relevant laws and regulations and avoid actions that could interfere with the planned development of the Sanyang Deep-Sea Port.
