Majlis Ansarullah, the elderly wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia, held its 18th National Ijtema 2025 at Tahir Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary School in Mansakonko.
The three-day gathering took place under the theme: “Islam: Religion of Peace and Tolerance.”
In his opening remarks, Mr Kemo Sonko, Sadr (President) of Majlis Ansarullah, called on members to uphold obedience as the foundation of faith.
He stressed that elder members serve as role models for younger generations and must demonstrate loyalty to the institution of Khilafat. Using the Battle of Uhud as an example, Mr Sonko highlighted how disobedience to the Prophet Muhammad’s instructions once led to defeat, underscoring the importance of following guidance.

Peace advocate Mr Fabakary Kalleh spoke about the role of Ansar members in promoting peace. He described peace not merely as the absence of conflict, but as a mindset and lifestyle that must be protected and cherished.
Mr Momodou Y. Jallow, Principal Education Officer for Region 4, praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat for its longstanding contributions to education and national development.
A former student of Nusrat schools, he encouraged Gambians to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, noting that ultimate judgment belongs to God.
The Ijtema featured lectures, academic competitions, and sporting events, allowing members to interact and strengthen bonds of brotherhood.

The event drew more than 200 delegates from across The Gambia, alongside three foreign delegates from Senegal.
The gathering concluded with Ustaz Mahmood Ahmad Tahir, Missionary-in-Charge of The Gambia, delivering messages of guidance, unity, and prayers for the continued progress of Majlis Ansarullah.
