Police in Diamniadio, Senegal, have arrested a 43-year-old Malian national, B.
Sanogo, after his wife was found dead with signs of strangulation and a cut throat.
The incident reportedly occurred late last Friday during a walk along the “route de Thiès” area.
Authorities said Sanogo allegedly strangled his wife before cutting her throat and later attempted to conceal the body while misleading investigators by claiming she had been picked up by a taxi.
Local reports indicate that the couple, residents of Canada, had been travelling between Senegal and Mali in recent months seeking treatment for what was described as a “mysterious illness” affecting the husband.
The victim’s body was later recovered, and the circumstances contradicted Sanogo’s account, leading to his detention as police continue their murder investigation.
The body has been transferred to Rufisque for autopsy.
Police have not disclosed additional details about the motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
