Mamodou King Colley has resigned from the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), bringing to an end his years of service within the opposition party.

In a resignation statement issued with immediate effect, Colley expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received during his time with the party.

“I officially write to communicate my resignation from the Gambia Democratic Congress, effective immediately,” he stated.

Colley served as the party’s National Youth Secretary for seven years before later becoming Chairman for West Coast Region 2. He also contested in the 2022 Parliamentary elections under the GDC ticket.

Reflecting on his tenure, he acknowledged the experience and exposure gained through his various roles within the party.

“I would do no justice if I don’t thank the party for such an opportunity and the experience gained,” he noted.

While wishing the GDC continued success in its future endeavors, Colley said he believes it is time for him to move on.

His resignation marks a notable development within the party’s West Coast Region structure, where he played a significant leadership role over the years.
