A Jabang man has been charged with attempted murder after assaulting his wife with a cutlass. 

Gorgi Sowe is accused of inflicting severe injuries to her legs.

Sowe, who was arrested by the Police Anti-Crime officers, appeared before Brikama Magistrates’ Court where he was charged.

The case has now been transferred to the High Court in Banjul.

“The unit’s prompt arrival at the scene facilitated the arrests of Gorgi Sowe, who was attempting to flee. Upon the team’s arrival, they discovered the victim, the man’s wife, lying in a critical condition, having sustained multiple severe lacerations to both legs,” police said.

“During the arrest, the alleged weapon, a cutlass, was recovered from the suspect’s residence, along with his clothing,” police added.
