
President Adama Barrow has received a special envoy from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania at the State House in Banjul for discussions focused on the role of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in addressing challenges facing the Muslim world.
The envoy, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, who serves as Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, delivered a message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani during the meeting.
According to the Presidency, discussions centred on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and its efforts to address key issues affecting the region and the wider Islamic Ummah.
President Barrow used the occasion to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to President Ghazouani, reaffirming the strong ties between The Gambia and Mauritania.
The visit comes as member states of the OIC continue to strengthen cooperation on issues ranging from peace and security to economic development and regional stability.
The meeting also underscored the growing diplomatic engagement between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing the objectives of the Islamic bloc.
