The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has launched an investigation into allegations of abuse involving domestic staff at The Gambia’s Embassy in Moscow.

The Ministry said it has taken note of recent social media reports concerning the matter and has moved swiftly to initiate inquiries aimed at establishing the facts surrounding the allegations.

According to the Ministry, the decision reflects its commitment to ensuring accountability and upholding proper standards of conduct within all Gambian diplomatic missions abroad.

“Upon becoming aware of the matter, the Ministry immediately initiated inquiries and instructed that a thorough investigation be conducted in order to establish the facts and enable the Ministry to take an informed decision,” the statement noted.

It added that allegations of misconduct involving diplomatic personnel are treated with “utmost seriousness,” stressing that the Ministry remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human dignity.

The Ministry further assured the public that due process will be followed in line with established public service and diplomatic regulations, and that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.

“The public is assured that the Ministry will take the necessary actions based on the outcome of the investigations,” it concluded.
