The mother of an alleged US-based Gambian drug dealer has been detained in Banjul for drug trafficking.

The woman, who has not been named, was allegedly running her son’s drug trafficking business in the country.

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) said the unnamed mother is “liable to be charged for drug related offences” ranging from possession of prohibited and controlled drugs for the purpose of drug trafficking (contrary to section 43).

Her arrest followed a “seizure of 91 parcels of skunk and 1,988 pills of ecstasy, the outcome of a coordinated sting operation spanning over a period of one month.”

“The  main primary distributor of his illicit products in The Gambia is currently in custody,” said DLEAG.

They added that suspected mother is “liable to be charge for drug related offences ranging from possession of prohibited and controlled drugs for the purpose of drug trafficking (contrary to section 43).”
