A murder investigation has been launched into the death of teenager Malang Jarju whose body was found in woodland in Kombo North.

Police said the body of the 13-year-old “was found covered in bags and legs tied with a rope at the Bird Watching Forest located between Brufut and Madiana villages.

“Police Investigators are working on constructing the crime scene and gathering evidence to ascertain the circumstances of the incident. 

“The body has been moved to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul for further examinations.

Meanwhile, the police called on people living within Brufut and Madiana villages, with information that may be useful to the investigation “to come forward to assist in the investigation”.

However, the police advised the public to desist from spreading false rumours or unverified information that could be detrimental to the investigation.

Malang Jarju, a 13-year-old boy, whose body was found days after being declared missing, has been confirmed to have drowned.

Police and family sources dismissed reports alleging that the boy was killed and dumped in a forest in Brufut. 

Malang’s death coincided with another gruesome death of a man whose body was found in a bag dumped in woodlands in Brufut.
