The National Unity Party (NUP) has extended warm Eid-ul-Adha greetings to Muslims across The Gambia and the wider Muslim Ummah, while calling for peace, unity and national togetherness.
In a message issued under the leadership of Lamin J. Darbo, the party described Eid-ul-Adha as a sacred period of sacrifice, reflection, compassion and reconciliation among people.
The party urged Gambians to embrace the core values of Eid, including solidarity, justice and shared responsibility, saying national progress can only be achieved when citizens work together in unity and mutual respect.
“NUP calls on all citizens to draw strength from the values of Eid. As a nation, our progress depends on upholding these principles and ensuring that no community is left behind,” the party said.
According to the statement, the opposition party remains committed to building what it described as “a just, inclusive and united Gambia” where the dignity, faith and rights of every citizen are protected and respected regardless of background.
The party further called on Gambians to rise above division and political differences and instead focus on promoting peace, equity and national development.
NUP said the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha should inspire citizens to strengthen social bonds, support vulnerable communities and work collectively towards a better future for the country.
The party concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and blessed Eid celebration.
“May this Eid inspire us to work together for peace, equity and national renewal,” the statement added.
