The Gambia Police Force has arrested a man suspected of killing his pregnant wife, Bintou Manjang, in Bingona, Senegal, before fleeing into Gambian territory.

Police said the suspect was apprehended by officers of the Criminal Intelligence and Interpol Bureau (CIIB) on Thursday, October 16, 2025, following close coordination between the GPF and family members of the deceased who travelled from Senegal.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on October 13, 2025, in Bingona, where the suspect allegedly murdered his wife before escaping across the border.

In a statement, the GPF reaffirmed its commitment to cross-border cooperation and partnership to ensure that “justice is served without borders.”

Police said the suspect will be handed over to the Senegalese authorities for further investigation and legal action.
