Police have issued a statement calling for calm in Sanyang amid violent protest over the killing of Gibril Cessay by unknown assailants.

A man has been arrested in connect with Ceesay’s death.

Angry youth have marched on the street in protest and burnt the town’s police station. 

“The Inspector General’s Office wishes to urge the people of Sanyang Kombo South to exercise restraint and allow the law take it’s course. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to put the situation under control,”police said in a statement.
