
Four police officers have been suspended and detained in connection with the death of Omar Badjie in Mandinary.
The Gambia Police Force confirmed that the officers were arrested on 28 September and remain in custody as the State prepares to launch an independent Coroner’s Inquest.
The officers under investigation are Sulayman Jarju, Mamadi Jallow, Ebrima Touray, and Fa Sainey Cham.
A postmortem was conducted in the presence of key stakeholders to establish the cause of death before the body was handed over to relatives for burial.

The tragedy has sparked anger and protests in the community, with calls for accountability growing louder each day.
Police officials have assured the public of a transparent investigation, vowing that “anyone found wanting will face the full force of the law.”
The inquest is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding Omar Badjie’s death, with the nation closely watching for answers.
