Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man following an alleged assault in Sinchu Gidom, in the West Coast Region.

Officers from Farato Police Station said the victim, identified as Momodou Lamin Jawara, was reportedly assaulted on Friday, 20 March and later died the following day.

A suspect, identified by police as the victim’s father, has been arrested and is assisting with the investigation.

Police said officers were quickly deployed to the scene after receiving reports of the incident.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to the mortuary at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation while investigations continue.
