Police have arrested 60 suspected criminals as they continued their clampdown on crime in the Greater Banjul Area.

Five of the suspects are said to be non-Gambians.

Police said the suspects were arrested for offences including assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of suspected drugs, possession of suspected stolen properties, idle and disorderly manners, attempt to commit felony, breaking and stealing. 

Meanwhile a prisoner who escaped from Jeswang prison has been arrested by a police patrol team in Kanifing. He was handed over to Gambia Prisons authorities.
