The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has urged motorists and other road users to exercise greater caution and responsibility on public highways following a spate of road accidents recorded across the country.

According to the police, six separate road traffic accidents were documented on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, across the seven regions, one of which was fatal.
Preliminary investigations revealed that most of the accidents were caused by human error, mainly overspeeding and reckless driving.

The police warned that such violations endanger not only the lives of drivers but also those of passengers and pedestrians.

“The GPF calls on all road users to demonstrate greater discipline, patience, and adherence to safety standards to help reduce preventable accidents,” the statement said.

The Force also cautioned that anyone found violating traffic regulations will face the full force of the law, adding that road safety is a shared responsibility.

“Every life lost to negligence is one too many,” the police added.
