The title race in the 2025/2026 Gambia Football Federation First Division League took another dramatic turn on Wednesday as Gambia Ports Authority climbed to the top of the table following a dramatic stoppage-time victory, while former leaders Brikama United slipped after defeat to BST Galaxy.

Ports now move to 37 points after Lamin Fadera struck in the 90+6th minute to secure a crucial 1-0 victory over Steve Biko. The late winner was enough to send Gambia Ports Authority above Brikama United, who remain on 36 points after their 1-0 loss to BST Galaxy.

Lamin Kanteh’s third-minute strike proved decisive as BST Galaxy stunned Brikama United to blow the title race wide open once again.

Bombada FC missed the chance to go top after being held to a 1-1 draw by Team Rhino. Haruna Jabang opened the scoring for Team Rhino before Abdoulie Jallow restored parity ten minutes later in the 16th minute. The result leaves Bombada on 35 points.

One of the standout fixtures of the round saw Medina United come from behind to beat defending champions Real de Banjul 2-1 and move level on 37 points with Ports. Agibou Dibba handed Real de Banjul the lead in the 16th minute, but Mustapha Jarju equalised in the 78th minute before Yusupha Chatty completed the turnaround with an 86th-minute winner.

Samger FC also pulled off a surprise result with a narrow 1-0 away victory over Falcons FC.

Elsewhere, the in-form Mosses Jatta scored the only goal as Greater Tomorrow secured a valuable 1-0 away win against Hawks FC.

Meanwhile, Gambian Dutch Lions edged Hart FC 3-2 in an entertaining five-goal thriller. Ebrima Barry gave Hart FC the lead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute before Ibrahim Diallo levelled matters in the 23rd minute.

Lamin Fofana then put Gambian Dutch Lions ahead in the 29th minute, but Ebrima Barry completed his brace in the 51st minute to make it 2-2. Cherno Jallow eventually sealed the victory in the 75th minute when he powered Ibrahim Diallo’s cross into the net.

With just one point now separating the top three sides, the battle for the league title continues to intensify heading into the closing stages of the campaign.
