Questions are mounting in The Gambia after Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye paid a brief one-day visit to Banjul and held talks with President Adama Barrow, with authorities yet to disclose details of the meeting.
President Faye arrived in Banjul on Saturday and was received at State House, where he met President Barrow for discussions described by officials as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
However, hours after the visit, no substantive information had been shared with the press, leaving the purpose and outcomes of the meeting unclear.

State House has said the visit was intended to deepen cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal, but has not provided further details on what was agreed or discussed behind closed doors.
The silence has triggered public curiosity, with some Gambians taking to social media to question why such a high-level diplomatic engagement was conducted without immediate briefing.
The visit also comes at a politically sensitive time in Senegal, where President Faye is managing governance priorities alongside his administration, including his working relationship with Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

No official comment has suggested any disagreement within the Senegalese leadership, despite online speculation linking recent political developments in Dakar to wider regional dynamics.
Both governments have so far maintained a low profile on the substance of the talks, leaving observers awaiting clarification on what was discussed during the brief visit.
