The mayor of Banjul Rohey Malick Lowe has suspended election campaign for Monday as a mark of respect for former minister of agriculture, Omar Amadou Jallow, known as OJ, who died last night aged 77 after long illness.

Mayor Lowe described OJ’s death as “great sadness to receive news of the passing of former Agriculture Minister Omar Jallow.

“He was a man of unquestionable character who selflessly served his country in various capacities. His demise is a great loss to our dear country. On behalf of the people of Banjul, I wish to extend my condolences to his family and the entire country. 

“I pray that Allah grants him the highest place in jannah. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family during this difficult times. 

“To all my team, supporters and well-wishers, I hereby, suspend my campaign for today Monday 15th May 2023 until tomorrow Tuesday 16th May 2023,”she said.
