The Debate Commission of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) has announced that, as of today, Sadibou Kamaso is the only GFF presidential aspirant to have officially confirmed his availability for the forthcoming presidential debate.
In a statement, the Commission said “We are delighted to confirm that the aspiring candidate, Mr Sadibou Kamaso, has accepted our invitation to participate in the GFF Presidential Debate 2026.”
The debate is being organised by SJAG to provide aspiring candidates with a platform to present their manifestos, policies and programmes to the Gambian public and football stakeholders ahead of the Gambia Football Federation presidential election.
The initiative is expected to give candidates an opportunity to articulate their vision for the future of Gambian football while allowing stakeholders and the wider public to better understand the priorities of those seeking the Federation’s highest office.
Editor’s Note
While the general public does not have voting rights in the GFF presidential election and the decision ultimately rests with delegates and stakeholders, it remains important for anyone seeking to lead Gambian football to publicly explain their aspirations, policies and programmes through a credible and competent platform.
Debates provide an opportunity for transparency, accountability and informed decision making, qualities that are essential for the development of the game.
