Senegalese football star Sadio Mané is behind a new 11.7 billion CFA francs agro-industrial project in his hometown of Bambali, Senegal.

A press conference was held on Friday ahead of the project’s groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 19 September 2026.

The SM10 AGRO project, led by Mané with support from Senegal’s investment promotion agency APIX, will cover 500 hectares and focus on the processing of agricultural produce, particularly mangoes.

The planned agro-industrial park will have the capacity to process 8,500 tonnes of mangoes a year and is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs.

The initiative aims to strengthen local agricultural processing and create additional economic value in the Casamance region.

Mané is working with APIX, Groupe Confluence and consultancy firm Oyo on the development of the project.

The first stone-laying ceremony is scheduled to take place in Bambali on Saturday.
