Samger FC have sealed their return to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League after edging past RS Tallinding 7-6 on penalties in a tense playoff final at the LYDFF grounds in Basori.
The match ended goalless in regulation time, setting up a nail-biting shootout that saw Samger hold their nerve to clinch promotion.
Relegated to the Second Division last season after finishing at the bottom of the table, Samger showed remarkable resilience and determination to bounce back stronger this campaign and reclaim their spot among the country’s football elite.
Meanwhile, RS Tallinding, who finished fifth in the Second Division, will be left to rue their missed chance as they fall just short of top-flight football. They will now have to regroup and aim for promotion again next season.
