In a decree signed on Monday, President Faye appointed 26 ministers and four ministers attached to key ministries, retaining several prominent figures in strategic portfolios including finance, foreign affairs, defence and energy.
The new cabinet reflects a blend of continuity and renewal, with a number of ministers maintaining positions considered central to the government’s economic, diplomatic and security agenda.
Among the key appointments are Yankoba Diémé as Minister of the Armed Forces, Cheikh Diba as Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning, Mohamedou Makhtar Cissé as Minister of Interior and Public Security, and Cheikh Niane as Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad.
Other notable appointments include Moussa Bocar Thiam as Minister of Justice, El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf as Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Serigne Guèye Diop as Minister of Industry and Trade, and Ibrahima Sy as Minister of Health and Public Hygiene.
The government also includes Khady Diène Gaye as Minister of Youth and Sports, Alpha Sy as Minister of Culture, Crafts and Tourism, and Ami Mbengue Ndao as Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy.
The announcement marks the first major step by Prime Minister Lo in assembling his administration as President Faye’s government seeks to advance its programme of governance reforms, economic transformation and regional integration.
The new cabinet is expected to begin work immediately, with attention focused on economic management, job creation, energy development and the delivery of key campaign promises made by the ruling administration.
