Senegalese media have confirmed the death of popular actress and model Halima Gadji, widely known for her role as Marième Dial in the hit TV series Maîtresse d’un homme marié.

She passed away on Monday evening at the age of 36.

Her death was first reported by Senegalese outlet Seneweb, though her family has yet to disclose the circumstances surrounding her passing.

Halima, of Moroccan, Algerian and Senegalese descent, rose to fame through her breakthrough role in Maîtresse d’un homme marié, which earned her international recognition and the Best Female Performance award at the 2020 Sotigui Awards.

She began her career in modelling with Wakh Art, later transitioning into television commercials, film and series, including appearances in Netflix productions such as Sakho & Mangane.

Beyond her acting career, Halima also worked as a showroom manager for Samsung, a role she held since 2013.

Tributes have continued to pour in across social media from fans, colleagues and public figures, celebrating her talent, charisma and contribution to Senegalese and African cinema.
