From its 2018 founding to today, the platform continues to champion free speech and challenge corruption in The Gambia and beyond

Today marks seven remarkable years since the founding of Gambiana, an independent news platform that has become a trusted source of factual, uncensored, and principled journalism for Gambians at home and across the diaspora.

Since its launch on December 29, 2018, Gambiana has stood firm in its mission: to provide objective news, promote free speech, and challenge corruption and tribalism in our national life.

This anniversary is not merely a celebration of time passed—it is a celebration of endurance, integrity, and service. It is a testament to the vision and leadership of its Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Momodou Musa Touray, whose commitment to ethical journalism has shaped Gambiana into one of the most persuasive and respected platforms in the Gambian media landscape.

Under his stewardship, Gambiana Magazine has also completed seven successful years of publication. What began as a bold idea has grown into one of the most widely circulated online diaspora magazines—informing, educating, and engaging readers across continents. Its success is the result of dedication, teamwork, and an unwavering belief in the power of truth.

To Mr. Touray and the entire Gambiana team: A hearty congratulations. Your work has elevated public discourse, strengthened democratic culture, and provided a platform where citizens can speak without fear.

You have built a media institution that stands tall on social media, in the diaspora community, and within the broader Gambian public sphere.

Seven years ago, you set out to create a platform that would matter. Today, Gambiana does not only matter—it leads. It informs. It inspires. It challenges. And it continues to grow in relevance and influence.

May the next seven years bring even greater heights. May your readership expand, your impact deepen, and your commitment to truth remain unshaken. The nation and its diaspora are better informed because of your work.

Congratulations once again on this grand milestone. Wishing you continued success in the years ahead.

Thank you.
