The state prosecutor has withdrawn the rape charges against Bob Keita after DNA paternity result showed that he is not the father of baby Muhammad, the child at the centre of the rape trial.

The AG Chambers has filed a nolle prosequi against Bob Keita.

This application means the prosecution has decided to drop their criminal charges against Bob Keita.

His long-standing rape trial was one of the most followed cases in recent years with supporters protesting against his “unfair” treatment by the state.

They said Keita, who has always maintained his innocence, was being “persecuted” by the state.

The case caught the attention in part because of the family drama that was being played out in public.

The complainant is Bob Keita’s sister-in-law who alleged that she was raped by Keita leading to a pregnancy.

Her boyfriend was alleged to be the father of the baby because of their striking resemblance.

Keita’s ex-wife was using social media to divulge details about her ex-husband.

They had a bitter split following the end of their marriage.

She is now facing murder charges following the tragic death of baby Muhammad in Dakar whilst in her care.
