A suspected thief was caught red-handed in Basse after allegedly trying to make off with a truckload of stolen bricks.
Video footage shared with Gambiana shows the man, who gave his name as Amadou Bamba, dressed in a black jacket and hat as he lounged against the very truck he is accused of using to haul the loot.
At first Bamba flatly denied stealing the bricks. But under pressure from onlookers, he finally cracked—claiming a friend roped him into the heist.
“I am not a thief. It’s my boy, Sarjo Sohna, who got me involved in this. He asked me to come and collect these bricks, and I don’t even know where he is taking them,” he insisted.
The hired driver erupted in fury and nearly attacked Bamba before bystanders warned him not to take the law into his own hands.
Both men were later escorted to the police station for questioning as the mystery of the missing bricks deepens.
