Police in Brufut have opened an investigation after a 16-year-old boy was found dead in the community.

The boy, identified as Lamin Tamba, was discovered lying motionless and soaked on the ground when officers from the Brusubi Police Station arrived at the scene.

He was taken to the Brufut Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. Police say they are investigating the incident and gathering information from residents as part of their inquiries.

The Gambia Police Force has appealed to members of the public to provide any information that may assist the investigation.

In a brief statement, the police said they remain committed to conducting a thorough inquiry to establish how the teenager died.
