President Adama Barrow has presided over the presentation of medical supplies worth 12 million dollars, described by the government as the largest single health-related donation in the country’s history.
The consignment was donated by the Cornerstone Foundation in partnership with MAP International and is expected to strengthen health service delivery across public medical facilities.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, President Barrow welcomed the support and thanked the donors for what he called a significant contribution to the country’s health sector.
He said his administration remained committed to improving medical infrastructure and working conditions for health professionals.

The president also praised medical workers for their dedication, urging the private sector to play a greater role in national development through partnerships that support public services.
Cornerstone Foundation’s Chief Executive Director, Olley Faal, said the donation reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting life-saving healthcare interventions.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and private institutions in addressing public health challenges.
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Dr Yusupha Touray, expressed appreciation to the donors and said the contribution would help address gaps in medical supplies within the health system.

Earlier this year, the Cornerstone Foundation donated medical supplies worth more than one million dalasis and supported key health projects, including the installation of solar power at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital’s operating theatre and the renovation of the paediatric surgical unit.
Health officials say such interventions are helping to improve patient care and strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide.
