The newly elected Deputy National President of the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), Tijan Kamara, has expressed gratitude following his election into the movement’s leadership, pledging to work towards what he described as the transformation of The Gambia.

Kamara said he feels deeply honoured and humbled by the confidence reposed in him, adding that he accepts the responsibility with determination and a strong sense of duty.

According to him, his decision to take up the role is based on conviction and concern over the current direction of the country.

He argued that The Gambia requires urgent change and collective efforts to restore hope, progress and national dignity.

Kamara further stated that he would work closely with his colleagues within the movement to advance their political objectives and address challenges affecting Gambians.

He also called on supporters to remain united and prayerful as the movement intensifies its political activities ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

The newly elected deputy national president expressed confidence in the leadership of Talib Ahmed Bensouda, saying the movement remains focused on delivering meaningful political change.
