Forces have completed a United Nations–supported peacekeeping training programme in the United Arab Emirates, designed to boost women’s involvement in global security operations.

The nine-week course, held in Abu Dhabi, was organised by the UAE Ministry of Defence in collaboration with UN Women under the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Women in Peace and Security initiative.

Training sessions focused on conflict management, civilian protection, gender-sensitive peacekeeping, and negotiation and communication skills.

The programme also included military practicals such as patrol operations, weapons handling, cybersecurity awareness and live-fire exercises.

Private Haddy Banna Njie was recognised as the second-best overall performer among participants drawn from several countries.

Military officials say the programme aims to prepare female soldiers for effective participation in peacekeeping missions and to strengthen their contribution to national and international peace and security efforts.
