The United Democratic Party (UDP) has announced the death of Aja Sukaina Kah, the National President of the party’s Women’s Wing.

According to the party, Aja Sukaina Kah passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Senegal.

In a statement, the UDP described her as a devoted patriot, loyal party stalwart, and fearless advocate for democracy and justice who remained committed to the party since its establishment in 1996.

The party praised her unwavering dedication and sacrifices throughout The Gambia’s political struggle, particularly her role in empowering women and strengthening the UDP across the country.

The UDP also extended condolences to her family, relatives, supporters, and the Gambian people, while praying for Allah’s mercy and eternal peace upon her soul.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later.
