The United Democratic Party’s Kombo East Constituency chairman, Lamin Bajinka, has resigned to join the National People’s Party.

In a letter to the UDP executive on Friday (23 February), Bajinka said: “I hereby submit my resignation as the UDP Constituency chairman and a member of the UDP effective immediately. After a careful consideration and thorough reflection, I have concluded that it is my best interest to discontinue my association with the party.”

He became the latest senior UDP figure to defect to the ruling party. Last December, the party’s campaign manager Momodou Sabally defected to the NPP
