Lord Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda has received a €3,000 contribution from the Europe Chapter of the United Movement for Change in support of the party’s recently concluded National Congress.

The funds were presented by Europe Chapter Chairman Yusuf Sabally on behalf of UMC members and supporters based across Europe.

The contribution, party officials said, reflects the growing involvement of the Gambian diaspora in supporting the activities and expansion of the movement both at home and abroad.

Receiving the donation, Talib Ahmed Bensouda expressed appreciation to the Europe Chapter for what he described as their continued commitment and solidarity with the party’s vision and programmes.

Supporters at the presentation noted that the contribution demonstrates the important role Gambians in the diaspora continue to play in strengthening political participation and supporting democratic engagement in the country.

The donation comes shortly after the UMC concluded its National Congress, which brought together delegates and supporters from different parts of The Gambia and abroad under the party’s broader agenda for political mobilisation and national development.
