The Gambian legal community is mourning the death of veteran lawyer Ousman Sillah, who passed away on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, at his residence in Bakau.

Family members announced that funeral prayers (Firdaus) will be held at the Pipeline Mosque, followed by interment at the Old Jeshwang Muslim Cemetery.

Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues and clients, describing Sillah as a dedicated legal practitioner whose work left a lasting impact on the Gambian justice system.

“His dedication to the law and commitment to his clients will always be remembered,” his family said.

Family members have requested prayers for the late lawyer, invoking the Islamic supplication, “May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdausi. Ameen.”

Sillah’s passing marks a significant loss for The Gambia’s legal fraternity, which continues to honour his contributions and legacy.
