Brikama Area Council Chairman Yankuba Darboe has ruled out any coalition arrangement with APP–Sobeyaa leader Essa Faal, insisting that the United Democratic Party (UDP) must lead any opposition alliance ahead of the December presidential election.

Darboe said: “I don’t think UDP will ever be able to have a coalition with Essa Faal. Because Essa Faal has made his position clear.”

He argued that the UDP, which he described as the biggest opposition party in the country, cannot enter any coalition where it is not given leadership.

His remarks come amid ongoing opposition discussions aimed at forming a united front to challenge President Adama Barrow and the ruling National People’s Party in the upcoming polls.

Darboe maintained that coalition talks must reflect political strength and public support, warning that any arrangement that sidelines the party would be unacceptable.
