Abdoulaye Boubou Thiam, President of AIPS Africa, has challenged Gambian journalists to take full ownership of the upcoming AIPS Africa Congress in Banjul and ensure it receives wide and consistent media coverage.

Speaking to reporters at the Banjul International Airport upon his arrival, Thiam said he is on a working visit to The Gambia to assess the country’s level of preparedness ahead of the Congress.

Thiam stressed the importance of strong local media engagement in projecting the event across the continent.

AIPS Africa is the umbrella body for sports journalists’ associations across Africa. The Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) will host the AIPS Africa Congress from 6th to 9th February in The Gambia.
