Banjul Magistrates’ Court has set September 25 for ruling on Yankuba Darboe’s seditious case.

The Brikama Area Council’s chairman is charged with sedition and contempt of the judicial administration of The Gambia.

Darboe, an opposition politician, is accused to have made seditious statement against President Adama Barrow and the Gambia’s judiciary in 2021 while at the Police Serious Crime Unit in Banjul.

However, his supporters described the charge as “politically motivated”.

Chairman Darboe, who was in court today amid heavy security presence, greeted his supporters in yellow attires after the hearing.
