The National Assembly Member for Banjul South has been arrested and detained at Senegambia Police Station.

Mrs Touma Njie is alledged to have attempted to remove her mother from quarantine at Golden Lead hotel.

The lawmaker’s arrest comes days after 14 people escaped quarantine at the hotel.

Police have launched a manhunt for the escapees.

Police spokesman Lamin Njie told Gambiana: “I think they (the police) are trying to sort out few issues so that he (police commissioner Of Senegambia station) will get back to me.”

The Gambia government on Thursday issued a mandatory 14 day quarantine for all passengers, Gambians and non Gambians alike from 47 countries, entering the country.
