Gambian President Adama Barrow will travel to Senegal on Monday for the inauguration of President-Elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, 44, emerged victorious in Senegal’s hotly contested presidential election after gaining 54% of the total votes. 

He is set to replace incumbent President Macky Sall, who had ruled the West African nation since 2012.

A statement from State House said: “His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, will attend the inauguration ceremony of President-Elect His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye of the Republic of Senegal on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024.

“President Barrow and his  delegation will depart Banjul International Airport for Dakar on Monday, 1st April 2024, at 4 P.M.”
