The Gambia’s President Barrow is in quarantine after Vice President Dr Isatou Touray tested positive for coronavirus.

State House made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

“The Office of the President informs the public that Her Excellency, the Vice President, Dr. Isatou Touray has tested positive of COVID-19,” State House said in a statement.

It added:”Consequently, the President, Adama Barrow will be on self-isolation with immediate effect for two weeks.”

The presidency urged the public to “properly use face masks, maintain regular hand washing and social distancing in the fight against the virus.”

Gambia has seen a spike in coronavirus cases. This is the first time a high profiled government official has tested positive for the virus.
