Operatives of The Gambia’s Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) have arrested a British national at the Banjul International Airport for allegedly being in possession of a large quantity of prohibited drugs.

The 26-year-old suspect, identified as Dereeka Rena Brown, was taken into custody by DLEAG officers and personnel of the Joint Interdiction Taskforce (JAITF) after arriving on a Brussels Airlines flight from Los Angeles via Brussels on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at around 6 p.m.

According to DLEAG, the suspect was found with 60 packs of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) concealed in two black suitcases.

She is currently in custody while investigations continue.
