The Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia (DLEAG) has arrested a Norwegian national and several other suspects of different nationalities in a series of drug operations conducted between 2 and 4 January 2026 across the country.

A 26-year-old Norwegian, Gavanes Kalathar Ganesan, was arrested in Sanchaba in the early hours of 4 January with suspected cocaine.

Another suspect, Pa Kawsu Jobe, 43, a resident of Sanyang, was apprehended on 3 January with 15 stones and additional quantities of suspected crack cocaine.

Further arrests were made in Njongon, Latrikunda, Bayanka, Old Yundum, Banyanka, Tippa Garage, Jambur, Bijilo, Sanyang, Manjai Kunda, Serrekunda Babylon and Sukuta, with suspects found in possession of varying quantities of suspected cocaine, cannabis sativa, skunk, kush and cannabis resin (hashish).

DLEAG said all suspects are currently in custody while investigations into their respective cases continue.
